The store has more than 3,000 types of plants, but lately sales have decreased, and he credits that partly to the current drought.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis time of year, people lay off purchasing plants for the fact that they\u2019re hoping the rain comes,\u201d Vowels said. \u201cTypically spring, early summer, you don\u2019t get a lot of rain.\u201d<\/p>\n
And that concern carries over to customers who say they\u2019ve had to tend to their gardens more because of the drought.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, I\u2019m hand-watering a lot before eight in the morning and after six at night,\u201d said customer Polly Curran. \u201cWhen the sun is not at its height and the roots of the plants can absorb the water.\u201d<\/p>\n
Curran said she\u2019s worried about her garden and hopes a shift in weather will come soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou just have to hope for Mother Nature to give us something,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Vowels said he is confident the weather will change soon.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAs soon as the rain starts again, you\u2019ll see people because they want that,\u201d he said. \u201cThey don\u2019t want to have to be watering. A plant needs water at first, and then it kind of acclimates where it doesn\u2019t need to be babied a lot.
