Lee Health<\/a> is addressing the rapid growth in Cape Coral with a 100,000-square-foot complex at Veterans Memorial Parkway.<\/p>\n

Construction got underway May 18 with the center that will have diagnostic, treatment and surgical services in the outpatient complex at 2514 S.W. 2nd Court.<\/p>\n

Construction of the $133 million center is targeted for completion in 2027. \u00a0It will offer cardiac, oncology, imaging and diagnostic services and more.<\/p>\n

Cape Coral\u2019s population is roughly 252,000 <\/a>with an annual growth rate of just shy of 4%, according to World Population Review. By 2031, analysts project the city’s population will reach 300,000 to 305,000.<\/p>\n

New to bring range of services<\/p>\n

An economic snapshot by the city of Cape Coral<\/a> says $1.7 billion was invested in 2025 in residential and commercial construction with nearly\u00a03,600 certificates of occupancy and completion issued.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Lee Health’s largest project in Cape Coral in more than 40 years, this new outpatient center brings a range of services together to support patients and families throughout their healthcare journey,\u201d Kris Fay, chief administrative officer of Lee Physician Group and ambulatory care, said in a news release.<\/p>\n

At another groundbreaking in Fort Myers recently, Dr. Larry Antonucci, president and chief executive officer of Lee Health, said the nonprofit healthcare system is investing $1.7 billion over the next five years to meet Southwest Florida’s growth needs.<\/p>\n

The complex is designed to \u201cdeliver coordinated, accessible, and personalized care,\u201d Fay said.<\/p>\n

What will be in complex<\/p>\n

Four operating rooms, two catheterization labs, two electrophysiology labs for diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders, and 28 pre- and post-operative recovery rooms.\u00a0<\/p>\n

An advanced infusion center with 24 stations, including private options, and a dedicated infusion pharmacy to support chemotherapy and intravenous therapy treatments.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Imaging and radiology services, including a PET-CT imaging room, MRI suite, X-ray facilities, three echo vascular ultrasound rooms, and two nuclear stress treadmill rooms.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Outpatient clinic space designed to support cardiology, musculoskeletal, and oncology services in a coordinated setting.<\/p>\n

Lee Health officials say the clinic layout is designed to enhance patient flow and minimize wait times.<\/p>\n

The general contractor is DeAngelis Diamond and the complex was designed by Flad Architects, and Smith Seckman Reid Inc. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.<\/p>\n

“As a Southwest Florida-based builder with deep roots in healthcare construction, there is nothing more rewarding than delivering a project like this for our own community.\u201d Reggie Morgan, president of DeAngelis Diamond, said.<\/p>\n

Other Lee Health projects in the Cape<\/p>\n

Late last year Lee Health at Bimini Square<\/a>\u00a0opened at Palm Tree Boulevard and Cape Coral Parkway.<\/p>\n

The project debuted a variety of health care services, from primary care to pediatrics, and some specialty care.<\/p>\n

Other projects have included work on the intensive care unit at Cape Coral Hospital and the second phase of the Surfside facility at Surfside Boulevard and Veterans Parkway.<\/p>\n

In addition, Florida State University\u2019s College of Medicine residency program in internal medicine is based at Cape Coral Hospital.<\/p>\n
