(A 176th state park, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tpl.org\/our-work\/shoal-river-headwaters-state-park\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Shoal River Headwaters<\/a>, opened earlier this year in the Panhandle.)<\/p>\n<p>Among Florida\u2019s five state park districts, the most visitors flock to Central Florida\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/floridadep.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/District3Map_2025.pdf\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">District 3<\/a>, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/floridadep.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2023%20EIA%20FINAL%20REPORT.pdf\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">latest economic impact report<\/a> available from FDEP. In fiscal year 2022-23, more than 8.5 million people visited state parks in District 3, the region that includes Blue Spring, Wekiwa Springs and Rock Springs Run.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfpublic.org\/environment\/2025-03-10\/wekiwa-springs-state-park-is-now-requiring-reservations\" class=\"Link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RELATED: Wekiwa Springs State Park is now requiring reservations<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Statewide, Florida\u2019s state park system generates some $3.6 billion in direct economic impacts for local economies. Among all five districts, Central Florida\u2019s District 3 accounts for the largest chunk of that money, 29%.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors will now have nearly 70 more acres of land to explore in one Central Florida state park with free admission this weekend. Price\u2019s Scrub State Park in Marion County is now more than 1,000 acres in size, following a recent land acquisition facilitated by Conservation Florida and FDEP.<\/p>\n<p>Beachgoers this weekend should keep an eye out for beach-nesting birds.
