JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 Today is shaping up to be beautiful, sunny, and\u2014most importantly\u2014dry.<\/p>\n
You may have noticed when you stepped outside this morning: temperatures are mild, sitting in the 60s and 70s across the area. Jacksonville is holding steady near 70 degrees.<\/p>\n
While that means a pleasant start to the day, there\u2019s also increased fire risk. We are very dry right now and currently in drought conditions. I can\u2019t stress this enough: please do not light or burn anything outdoors.<\/p>\n
Even though wind gusts are down, it\u2019s critical to stay cautious. Let\u2019s keep our community safe.<\/p>\n
Rain returns for the weekend<\/p>\n
With News4JAX Exact Track 4D radar, I\u2019m seeing only a slight chance\u2014about 10 percent\u2014for a pop-up shower today. <\/p>\n
One shower did move through Flagler Beach earlier, but most spots will stay sunny.<\/p>\n
As we head toward the weekend, rain chances begin to pick up. Showers are expected to stay scattered, not widespread. <\/p>\n
We\u2019re looking at a 10% to 30% chance of rain through Friday, but Saturday will likely bring the most activity, with rain chances up to 50%. By Sunday, expect that number to drop to about 40%, and then just a 20% rain chance on Memorial Day.<\/p>\n
If you have outdoor plans, most of the rain will be hit-or-miss, so you\u2019ll still be able to enjoy much of the weekend.<\/p>\n
Hot streak: 90-degree trend<\/p>\n
Temperatures will stay warm, with highs expected to reach 88 degrees today. <\/p>\n
As we move through the week, daytime highs will climb into the 90s and stay there through Saturday. <\/p>\n
Overnight lows are forecast around the upper 60s.<\/p>\n
If you have kids heading to the bus stop or plan to be outdoors after work, you\u2019re in good shape\u2014just remember the sunscreen and to stay hydrated!<\/p>\n
