(WFLA) \u2014 A plane to Newark had to be diverted to Tampa after a problem emerged mid-flight Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A spokesperson for JetBlue told 8 On Your Side that Flight 1230 was meant to fly from Cancun International Airport in Mexico to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link  yahoo-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/171-arrested-operation-unmasking-predators-123029643.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:171 arrested in \u2018Operation Unmasking Predators\u2019 investigation: HCSO;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> 171 arrested in \u2018Operation Unmasking Predators\u2019 investigation: HCSO <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">However, it was diverted to Tampa International Airport after a \u201cdrop in altitude.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane, an Airbus 320, was diverted at 2 p.m. due to a \u201cflight control issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">JetBlue said medical personnel evaluated both passengers and crewmembers. Tampa Fire Rescue said \u201capproximately 15 to 20 passengers\u201d evaluated and taken to Tampa area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cOur team has taken the aircraft out of service for inspection, and we will conduct a full investigation to determine the cause,\u201d the airline said. \u201cThe safety of our customers and crewmembers is always our first priority, and we will work to support those involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
