A 50 year-old Florida woman was viciously mauled to death by a pair of bloodthirsty pit bulls, only to be found by her heartbroken husband who said he\u2019ll \u201cnever get the image out of my mind.\u201d <\/p>\n
Donnell Smith returned to his Brevard County home shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday \u2014 after helping neighbors across the street \u2014 and noticed his wife, Jodi Cowan, and their small dog had disappeared, according to WESH 2 News<\/a>.<\/p>\n Smith then suddenly heard Cowan\u2019s cries for help in the distance, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n 50-year-old Jodi Cowan was mauled to death by two neighborhood pit bulls in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Donnell Smith<\/p>\n \u201cI saw the silhouette of the two dogs dragging my wife down the road, off into the grass in front of the truck down there,\u201d Smith said.\u00a0<\/p>\n Cowan was found lying on the grass in a pool of blood with dog bites all over her body, her husband said.<\/p>\n The beasts \u2014 who live in the neighborhood and were known to terrorize the community \u2014 apparently returned and tried to drag Cowan away again.<\/p>\n \u201cI pulled my knife out, you know, just swinging it with one hand and holding the blood with the other, trying to stop her from bleeding,\u201d a distraught Smith said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was brutal. Seeing the same woman I\u2019ve loved for the last 25-30 years just ripped apart by two animals was just \u2026 I\u2019ll never get that image out of my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n The two pit bulls were known in the area for being agressive, according to Cowan\u2019s husband Donnell Smith. WKMG<\/p>\n He called 911 and Cowan was flown to a hospital but died hours later from her injuries.<\/p>\n \u201cShe just loved people, loved dogs more than people, and for her to go out that way, it\u2019s not right,\u2019 Smith said.<\/p>\n
