Combs of the Eastern District of Texas made the announcement Friday. On Nov. 2, 2025, Hand was shot twice in the line of duty while attempting to apprehend wanted fugitive Bobby Michael Dennis\u2014 one to the arm, and another to the leg.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs19.tv\/article\/news\/local\/elyse-hand-shares-gratitude\/501-856b64d1-61f7-47e8-b948-76abf242fa06\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Injured Jacksonville officer Elyse Hand shares gratitude amid recovery from on-duty shooting<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During that encounter, her K-9 unit &#8220;Renzo&#8221; was also injured.
