Six Leon County schools are getting new principals. Here’s the list.<\/p>\n

Leon County Schools is seeing a shakeup in leadership at several of its schools as longtime Rickards principal Doug Cook<\/a> retires, and veteran Godby Principal Desmond Cole prepares to move into a district leadership role.<\/p>\n

None of the new principals announced are new to the district, all have been employed previously in a leadership capacity.<\/p>\n

“The biggest impact I can have as superintendent on the academic success of our district is appointing high quality principals and school administrators,” Superintendent Rocky Hanna told the Tallahassee Democrat.<\/p>\n

He added: “There’s a lot of thought and deliberation that goes into making these decisions, and I feel very confident in these six individuals we’ve named.”<\/p>\n

Here are the shifts:<\/p>\n

Maurice Stokes will be taking over at Rickards High School, leaving from Riley Elementary School after five years.<\/p>\n

Heilange Porcena will take Stokes’ place at Riley Elementary School. She previously served as the transition principal at Oak Ridge Elementary.<\/p>\n

Delshauna Jackson will leave Bond Elementary School after leading the school for six years, ringing in its turnaround grade in 2021 and take the helm at Nims Middle School.<\/p>\n

Antwan Cole, former assistant principal at Pineview Elementary, will take over at Bond.<\/p>\n

Marcus Scott will leave Raa Middle School after six years and take over at Godby High School. Hanna said he was unsure what role Cole would take at the district level, but that a recommendation would be presented later on.<\/p>\n

Star Swain<\/a> will become principal at Raa Middle School. She previously served as an assistant principal at Lincoln High School.<\/p>\n
