May 22 (Reuters) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday announced a $600 million expansion of Blue \u200cOrigin’s Rocket Park campus in Cape Canaveral.<\/p>\n

The \u200cexpansion comes as Blue Origin rival, Elon Musk’s SpaceX (SPAX.PVT<\/a>), prepares to \u200bgo public targeting a valuation of $1.75 trillion.<\/p>\n

Here are a few details on the expansion:<\/p>\n

\u2022 The new 830,000-square-foot upper stage manufacturing facility will support 500 aerospace \u200cjobs, with an average \u2060salary of more than $98,000.<\/p>\n

\u2022 “Project Horizon is the latest and most ambitious chapter in \u2060Blue Origin’s decade-long commitment to Florida,” Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Since 2015, \u200bBlue Origin \u200bhas scaled to nearly \u200b4,000 employees and invested \u200cmore than $2.3 billion across 500 Florida suppliers, Limp said.<\/p>\n

\u2022 The project will receive support through the Spaceport Improvement Program, a partnership between Space Florida and the Florida Department of Transportation, that has funded \u200cBlue Origin’s new pad at \u200bLaunch Complex 36.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Blue Origin, \u200bwhich is billionaire \u200bJeff Bezos<\/a>‘ space company, is currently the \u200conly company that manufactures and \u200blaunches rockets \u200bfrom Florida.<\/p>\n

\u2022 In April, federal aviation regulators ordered Blue Origin to investigate the upper-stage malfunction \u200bof its New \u200cGlenn rocket during a failed satellite launch \u200bfrom Florida.<\/p>\n
