Fire rescue crews, police cars, and two medical examiner vans lined the street for hours\u00a0Sunday morning\u00a0after this violent overnight crash in Miami.<\/p>\n
Police said the crash happened around 2:46 a.m. near 301 SW 10th Ave, in the Little Havana neighborhood.<\/p>\n
\u201cUpon officers\u2019 arrival, it appeared that an SUV may have been traveling at a high rate of speed moments before the crash,\u201d police said, adding that the investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
Paulette, a witness, said that when she walked outside, the aftermath was devastating.<\/p>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNeighbors describe rushing to the scene.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Several cars were badly damaged, and neighbors gathered near the wreckage trying to help anyone trapped inside.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt just sounded like you hear screeching tires and a loud bang and then a couple of minutes later the police come here to the door banging,\u201d Paulette said.<\/p>\n
Authorities also confirmed that the driver of a second vehicle died as a result of the crash.<\/p>\n
Cell phone video shared with NBC6 shows people crowding around one of the wrecked cars moments after the crash happened.<\/p>\n
One witness, 21-year-old nursing student Layla Montgomery, says she tried checking for signs of life before first responders arrived.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe saw like four cars beat up, and we didn\u2019t know at first if there was somebody in the car. We tried to see if he had a pulse, and unfortunately, he did not,\u201d Montgomery shared.<\/p>\n
The scene stretched on for hours as investigators documented the damage and tow trucks worked to remove the wrecked vehicles from the roadway.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was pretty scary because it was loud, and then just to see how it ended,\u201d Paulette added.<\/p>\n
As the investigation continues, neighbors here say they’re still shaken by what they witnessed overnight<\/p>\n
