{"id":283443,"date":"2026-05-25T09:02:38","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T09:02:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/283443\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T09:02:38","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T09:02:38","slug":"large-grass-fire-burns-near-miami-executive-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/283443\/","title":{"rendered":"Large grass fire burns near Miami Executive Airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0May 24, 2026 at 5:08 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 A grass fire broke out Sunday afternoon in southwest Miami-Dade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/05\/24\/gran-incendio-de-pastizal-cerca-del-aeropuerto-ejecutivo-de-miami\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/05\/24\/gran-incendio-de-pastizal-cerca-del-aeropuerto-ejecutivo-de-miami\/\">Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It broke out at around 2:45 p.m. in the pinelands near Southwest 137th Avenue and 120th Street, near Miami Executive Airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Additional manpower had been called in to fight the flames, which had burned about 24 acres and was 40% contained as of Sunday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201c(It\u2019s a) tremendous fire and of course, it\u2019s very hot out here, so all firefighters are dealing with the heat and the humidity,\u201d MDFR Division Chief Michael Eng said. \u201cThe winds are coming strong from the east, so it is helping spread the fire a lot faster. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cA priority, of course, is again is protecting the exposures, so there\u2019s a lot of residents in this part of the area that we want to protect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Crews additionally evacuated Camp Matecumbe, within Boystown Pineland County Park and closed a portion of Southwest 120th Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Firefighters have told those living nearby to shelter in place, so stay inside and to keep their doors and windows closed. <\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfe0 News From Your Neighborhood<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body__copyright\">Copyright 2026 by WPLG Local10.com &#8211;
