TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The rain did not stop the Memorial Day celebration at the VFW cemetery, and members of Post 3308 say that truly reinforces the importance of honoring those who served and died.<\/p>\n
Frank Roycraft is with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3308. He says he was surprised to see so much support even in the rain.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it shows that people care,\u201d Roycraft said. \u201cI came in early to set some things up, and I thought there\u2019d just be a few staff folks here, but there were people waiting and setting up chairs, and they were wanting the ceremony. That\u2019s what they came here for, the ceremony to honor the dead, the people that paid the ultimate sacrifice for this country. That was wonderful.\u201d <\/p>\n

Arnold Gruning Jr., an army sergeant and paratrooper, is buried at the cemetery. His wife, Mary Gruning, and family were presented with the American flag during Monday\u2019s ceremony.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s awesome, actually, to see how many people come to give tribute and to honor the veterans who have lost their lives,\u201d his daughter, Karen McCurley, said. <\/p>\n
And they leave with one message, as people stop and reflect this Memorial Day. <\/p>\n
\u201cTo not forget our veterans and our loved ones who have given their all for our country.\u201d <\/p>\n
