\n\tMiami\u2019s Kaseya Center filled up with sombrero vueltiaos and Colombian flags to receive Carlos Vives<\/a>\u2019 Tour Al Sol on Saturday night (May 23).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAt 9 p.m. sharp, three large screens \u2014 including a round one in the center that represented a sun (hence the tour\u2019s name) \u2014 lit up the sold-out arena: \u201cWe all need the sun to be happy,\u201d Vives\u2019 voice recited in an intro video.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the conceptual two-hour show, the Colombian star took spectators on a journey through the solar system all the way to infinity, but \u201cin my homeland, the sun hits incredibly hard,\u201d he continued in the clip before he got on stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tFlaunting a black denim jacket and jeans, and his bouncy, signature dirty blond curls, Vives kicked off the concert with \u201cVolv\u00ed a Nacer,\u201d followed by \u201cLa Bicicleta\u201d and \u201cCanci\u00f3n Bonita.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHow are you, Miami? The city of all,\u201d he said. \u201cFor me, it is important to be in this city. Music took me around the world \u2014 not to become more famous, but to show my family what lay beyond Colombia. I have been singing for many years, and one learns who it is they sing for: my country, my land, my people, my region.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThroughout the night, Vives, who was joined by 11 musicians, also serenaded fans with his vallenato and cumbia classics, including \u201cLa Gota Fria,\u201d \u201cEl Cantor de Fonseca,\u201d \u201cCarito,\u201d \u201cPa\u2019 Mate,\u201d \u201cCuando Nos Volvamos a Encontrar,\u201d \u201cFruta Fresca\u201d and \u201cRobarte un Beso.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong his notable surprise guests were Ni\u00f1a Pastori for a performance of \u201cSombra Perdida\u201d; Sergio George for \u201cSi yo volviera a nacer\u201d; Grupo Niche for the salsa-cumbia version of \u201cLa Tierra del Olvido\u201d; and Fonseca for \u201cQuiero verte sonreir.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u00a0\u201cEach show of Tour al Sol will be a concert from sunrise to sunset \u2014 a journey through the emotions of music that moves with the sun,\u201d Vives previously<\/a> told Billboard Espa\u00f1ol. \u201cIn short, Tour al Sol is a concert with the sun of La Provincia.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Tour Al Sol, which kicked off April 16 in Toronto, will wrap June 5 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jos\u00e9 Miguel Agrelot in San Juan.<\/p>\n
