(WFLA)– Temperatures stay above average through Wednesday, but the bigger story is the transition to a wetter pattern late this week.

For this evening, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop again, mainly along and west of I-75. Not everyone will get rain, but the storms that do develop could be strong. Gusty winds will be the main concern, and small hail can’t be ruled out in the more intense storms. Any storm will also be capable of frequent lightning and heavy downpours.

Wednesday looks like one more day of the more typical afternoon and evening storm pattern. It will stay hot and humid, with highs running above normal before storms start building later in the day.

By Thursday, the pattern starts to change. Winds shift more out of the south and eventually southwest, which helps bring deeper tropical moisture into Florida. That means storms will not be limited to just the afternoon and evening. Rain could develop at almost any time of day, including overnight and during the morning.

From late this week through the weekend and into early next week, expect a much wetter setup. There may be multiple rounds of rain each day, with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. That could be inconvenient for outdoor plans, but it is helpful given the ongoing drought conditions across the region.

The extra clouds and rain should keep afternoon temperatures from getting quite as hot, but it will stay very humid. Nights will also remain warm and muggy, with only limited cooling. Overall, plan on a warm, humid and increasingly wet stretch through at least next Tuesday.

Close

Thanks for signing up!

Watch for us in your inbox.

Subscribe Now

Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
