Sanibel residents will be able to safely and responsibly dispose of household chemical waste \u2014 leftover paints, cleaners, herbicides, pesticides, automotive fluids and pool chemicals.<\/p>\n
Hosted by the city of Sanibel and Lee County Solid Waste, a household chemical waste collection event will be held on June 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Sanibel Public Library, at 770 Dunlop Road Sanibel. Drop off of items will be an easy drive-through process, at no charge.<\/p>\n
It is part of an interlocal agreement between the city and county to provide residents convenient and responsible disposal of chemicals that might otherwise be harmful to people and the environment.<\/p>\n
The collection events are for residential waste only. Businesses that need chemical waste disposal can call 239-533-8000 to schedule an appointment for the monthly business collection at the county\u2019s Household Chemical Waste drop-off location, at 6441 Topaz Court, Fort Myers.<\/p>\n
The following items are not chemical waste and can be set out with regular garbage:<\/p>\n
\u2013 Empty paint cans and dried paint<\/p>\n
\u2013 Empty automotive fluid containers<\/p>\n
\u2013 Small-engine equipment, such as pressure washers and lawnmowers<\/p>\n
\u2013 Small electronic parts, such as routers, mice and keyboards<\/p>\n
\u2013 Small appliances<\/p>\n
\u2013 Tires<\/p>\n
