(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlbt.com\/2026\/05\/27\/mississippi-woman-dies-after-snorkeling-accident-florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wlbt.com\/2026\/05\/27\/mississippi-woman-dies-after-snorkeling-accident-florida\/\">WLBT<\/a>\/Gray News) &#8211; A Mississippi woman is dead after a snorkeling accident in Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Monroe County Sheriff\u2019s Office said 63-year-old Lecia Elizabeth Spriggs, of Madison, Mississippi, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/floridakeyssheriff\/posts\/pfbid0WcmyJQKQDtdZ6c2HqRRrXFS5zBFTbqLRD7FH8oGy9JL2wHjKHgW4HtsvmFoT2qSRl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/floridakeyssheriff\/posts\/pfbid0WcmyJQKQDtdZ6c2HqRRrXFS5zBFTbqLRD7FH8oGy9JL2wHjKHgW4HtsvmFoT2qSRl\">was snorkeling<\/a> near Mule Key, off Key West, with a commercial company when she was found unresponsive in the water Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Bystanders began CPR immediately, and the U.S. Coast Guard brought Spriggs ashore, officials said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Spriggs was taken to the Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island, where she was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officials said autopsy results are pending, but foul play is not suspected to be a factor in this incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">No further information has been released at this time.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WLBT via Gray Local Media, Inc.
