Universal Orlando is finally saying goodbye to its mythical Lost Continent area after nearly 30 years.<\/p>\n

Demolition has officially started, though Universal has not yet announced what the Lost Continent will be replaced with.<\/p>\n

Universal first confirmed the change in scenery last fall<\/a>, saying construction activity will lead the way to \u201cfuture developments.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Universal Orlando spokesperson told Fox News<\/a>, \u201cIn the coming months, venues and experiences within Lost Continent will permanently close in phases to make way for a new themed area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lost Continent opened in 1999 as a part of Universal\u2019s original Islands of Adventure alongside attractions like Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon and Jurassic Park that still stand to this day. It became a part of early Universal\u2019s identity, with its towering Grecian structures and elaborate storytelling, but the attraction has been chipped away at for the past 15 years.<\/p>\n

The Lost Continent\u2019s main historic attraction, Poseidon\u2019s Fury, has been closed since 2023. When it was open, it provided a climate-controlled escape from the Florida heat with actors, elaborate sets and special effects to learn all things ancient mythology.<\/p>\n

One of the area\u2019s last remaining interactive pieces before demolition was The Mystic Fountain, a human-operated fountain that would converse with guests near the entrance of The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad, a stunt show that has been closed since 2018.<\/p>\n

Mythos, the attractions\u2019 award-winning sit-down dining experience, is expected to close in 2027.<\/p>\n

Although we don\u2019t know what\u2019s in store for the area, the demolition comes at a time where Universal continues to switch up its attractions following the massive Epic Universe opening in 2025.<\/p>\n
