DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Law enforcement officers are searching for a Gainesville homicide suspect after police said he led officers on a chase into Daytona Beach and ran onto the beach.<\/p>\n

Gainesville police said officers were called to a condominium complex around 10 p.m. Tuesday, where they found a 23-year-old woman who later died from her injuries.<\/p>\n

Investigators identified 31-year-old Xavion Perry as the suspected gunman.<\/p>\n

According to the Daytona Beach Police Department, officers found Perry\u2019s vehicle around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police said Perry led officers on a pursuit before stopping near the Main Street beach approach.<\/p>\n

Investigators said Perry then got out of the vehicle, ran onto the pier and jumped down onto the beach.<\/p>\n

Police said Perry later went live on social media, showing a gun and making suicidal statements.<\/p>\n

The search brought a noticeable police presence to the Daytona Beach Boardwalk on Wednesday, surprising visitors in the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did see the big truck out here,\u201d one visitor said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got here yesterday and I didn\u2019t notice anything, but on our way down here this evening, I saw some kind of mobile crime unit van,\u201d another visitor said.<\/p>\n

Several people said the police activity made them uneasy, especially those visiting with children.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s pretty shocking,\u201d one person said. \u201cI mean, of course I got kids that live right across the street, so it\u2019s like, you want to kind of watch out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s kind of scary,\u201d another visitor said. \u201cEspecially since I\u2019m here with my kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

People along Daytona Beach said they hope Perry is found without anyone else getting hurt.<\/p>\n

\u201cMake sure he\u2019s not endangering other people. That\u2019s just the main thing,\u201d one parent said. \u201cThere\u2019s kids and stuff out here, so I want the same thing as any other parent for their kid, and it\u2019s just for them to stay safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Authorities have not said where Perry may be now.<\/p>\n
