On March 11, the Sanibel Sea School held its final guided beach walk of the spring season in partnership with Road Scholar, closing another chapter of experiential learning on Sanibel\u2019s shores.<\/p>\n

So far in 2026, marine science educators have led five walks for Road Scholar participants, with two more scheduled for December. The Sanibel Sea School reported that the programs are part of a six-day educational excursion that brings adult learners from around the world to explore the natural wonders of Southwest Florida.<\/p>\n

On the immersive walks, the beach becomes a living classroom. Educators guide the group through the formation of barrier islands, point out local wildlife, and dive into the world of shells that make the island famous. Along the way, the ever-changing wrack line offers new discoveries, from crab molts to snail egg cases, allowing each walk to be tailored to the group\u2019s interests and questions.<\/p>\n

The partnership reflects a shared commitment between the Sanibel Sea School and Road Scholar to meaningful, experiential learning. As the world\u2019s largest not-for-profit provider of educational travel experiences, Road Scholar inspires adults to explore, discover and connect with the places they visit.<\/p>\n

The Sanibel Sea School\u2019s approach to marine science education aligns with that mission.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for a fabulous season yet again,\u201d Road Scholar Program Operations East Manager Arielle Wildau said. \u201cOur groups love their time with you \u2014 in fact, for many, it is the highlight. They leave with a totally new appreciation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Road Scholar has already requested to continue the collaboration in 2027.<\/p>\n
