(WITN) &#8211; A nearly 3-1\/2 year old case involving food trucks in Jacksonville is finally over.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jacksonville says it moved to have the case dismissed and agreed to pay the three food truck operators nominal damages and costs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.witn.com\/2026\/03\/18\/legal-victory-about-signage-food-trucks-operators-jacksonville-clone\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.witn.com\/2026\/03\/18\/legal-victory-about-signage-food-trucks-operators-jacksonville-clone\/\">city council voted to repeal three parts of its food truck ordinance<\/a>, while the next month a court ruled in favor of Nicole Gonzalez, Tony Proctor, and Ray Raymond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The three food truck owners sued the city in December 2022 over its sign restrictions dealing with the trucks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The court ordered the city to pay nominal damages of $4 to each owner, as well as reimbursing $15,861.56 in costs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Institute for Justice, which represented the food truck owners, says the city has now paid that out, and has decided not to appeal the case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe court\u2019s judgment is now final, which means that these restrictions will not return to Jacksonville,\u201d said IJ Senior Attorney Justin Pearson. \u201cThe government doesn\u2019t get to pick winners and losers in the marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WITN.
