What was supposed to be a joyful graduation day became an emotional tribute for the family of a South Florida teenager whose life was tragically cut short.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the family of 17-year-old Yahkeim Lollar<\/a> gathered at the Ziff Opera House as Miami Northwestern Senior High School honored him with a posthumous diploma during the school\u2019s graduation ceremony.<\/p>\n

White caps and gowns, smiling graduates and proud families filled the venue as students celebrated the next chapter of their lives. For the Lollar family, however, the ceremony served as both a moment of pride and remembrance. A portrait of Yahkeim was displayed during the event, helping keep his memory alive among classmates, teachers, and loved ones.<\/p>\n

Yahkeim Lollar was stabbed to death in Miami<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, school officials presented a diploma plaque \u201con behalf of our fallen Bull,\u201d referring to the school\u2019s mascot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was just fantasizing him walking across that stage and being happy and me screaming his name,\u201d said his mother, Nathalie Jean. \u201cSo I tried to just look at the positive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lollar was killed<\/a> in December 2024 after investigators said his girlfriend, Jahara Malik, stabbed him in the heart during an argument.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Malik was sentenced<\/a> to 17 years in prison after taking responsibility for the case.<\/p>\n

Despite the devastating loss, Yahkeim\u2019s parents said they remain determined to celebrate their son\u2019s accomplishments and the life he lived.<\/p>\n

\u201cKind of getting used to having these moments nowadays,\u201d said his father, Darveed Lollar. \u201cI love them, though. It keeps him alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

The emotional ceremony marked what would have been a milestone moment for the teenager, who, his family said, was proud to attend Miami Northwestern Senior High School.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a proud day for myself,\u201d his father added. \u201cThis meant a lot for my son. He really wanted to be a graduate of Miami Northwestern, and we are here to accept this. I am so happy right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

The family also shared a message for other parents, encouraging them to have open conversations with their children about unhealthy or toxic relationships.<\/p>\n
