PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 Video of a traffic stop in Palm Beach County is going viral over an awkward exchange between the driver and a deputy who accused her of holding a phone while driving.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou drove past me holding a phone with your right hand, manipulating that phone,\u201d the deputy tells 36-year-old Kathleen \u201cKatie\u201d Thomas. <\/p>\n
\u201cObviously not,\u201d Thomas says while laughing and holding up her right arm, showing that she\u2019s missing her right hand. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo you wanna call this a day?\u201d she asks. <\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to call this a day. You had a hand up, manipulating,\u201d the deputy responds. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou just said my right hand,\u201d Thomas counters. <\/p>\n
\u201cWell, I thought I saw your right hand,\u201d the deputy says. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo you didn\u2019t,\u201d Thomas responds. <\/p>\n
Thomas posted the bodycam footage on Instagram and TikTok where it gained millions of likes.<\/p>\n
In the video, although she shows the deputy she doesn\u2019t have a right hand, the deputy doubled down.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m asking you now; did you or not have your phone in your hand?\u201d the deputy asks. <\/p>\n
\u201cI did not,\u201d Thomas responds. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou did not have your phone in your hand?\u201d the deputy asks again. <\/p>\n
\u201cI did not,\u201d Thomas responds. <\/p>\n
\u201cHand to God, you didn\u2019t have a phone in your hand?\u201d the deputy asks. <\/p>\n
\u201cHand to God,\u201d Thomas says. <\/p>\n
Court records show Thomas was given a $116 citation despite the presented evidence, but it was later dismissed at the request of the deputy involved.<\/p>\n
