{"id":289275,"date":"2026-05-29T19:44:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T19:44:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/289275\/"},"modified":"2026-05-29T19:44:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T19:44:17","slug":"city-furniture-credit-card-fraud-probe-nets-arrests-in-miami-dade-and-broward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/289275\/","title":{"rendered":"City Furniture credit card fraud probe nets arrests in Miami-Dade and Broward"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI \u2014 After a City Furniture credit card with the stolen identity of a man in Torrance, California, was approved, a woman in Miami went shopping, according to deputies. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/05\/29\/arrestan-a-personas-en-miami-dade-y-broward-por-investigacion-de-fraude-con-tarjetas-de-credito-en-city-furniture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/05\/29\/arrestan-a-personas-en-miami-dade-y-broward-por-investigacion-de-fraude-con-tarjetas-de-credito-en-city-furniture\/\">Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The purchases at a City Furniture store in Hollywood were delivered to a townhouse at the InTown Apartments in Little Havana, according to deputies. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ashley Almeida had also used someone else\u2019s identity to lease the townhouse at 1900 SW 8th St., according to a Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office deputy\u2019s arrest report. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Detectives started investigating fraud in April after Synchrony Bank reported stolen identities were behind several City Furniture credit card accounts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Kevin Kattoura, a City Furniture employee in Oakland Park, had \u201csubmitted\u201d 10 of the applications, and \u201creceived commission payments for the fraudulent sales,\u201d a Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office deputy wrote, according to an arrest report. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Broward deputies arrested Kattoura, 44, on Tuesday and corrections booked him at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Miami-Dade deputies arrested Almeida, 47, shortly after 6:10 p.m. on Thursday after she arrived at the townhouse with the furniture, according to deputies. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Corrections booked Almeida shortly after 11:05 p.m. on Thursday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She appeared in bond court on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Kattoura faced charges of second-degree grand theft, computer crime to defraud, obtain property by fraud, and creating, possessing, or using a fictitious identity. His bond was $20,000. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Broward County Circuit Judge Francis Viamontes was set to preside over Kattoura\u2018s case. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Almeida faced charges of fraudulent use of identification, third-degree grand theft, and organized fraud.
