Celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander culture has been happening throughout May. It\u2019s going out with a bang in Broward, thanks to a two-day party and a very sweet and juicy fruit.<\/p>\n<p>Mangoes are about to take center stage at a special Fort Lauderdale event.<\/p>\n<p>Julianna Gayoso: \u201cSo this weekend, Smorgasburg is hosting their aapi asian street food festival, mango edition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the star of the show at Saturday and Sunday\u2019s free event.<\/p>\n<p>Julianna Gayoso: \u201cMango is going to take over this space, so most of our vendors are going to have mango specials. A whole bunch of mango creations that are going to rock your world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re wondering why mango? Here\u2019s your answer.<\/p>\n<p>Julianna Gayoso: \u201cMango is such a part of one\u2019s like Florida culture and also asian american pacific island culture. It\u2019s a fruit that I feel combines so many different cultures.<\/p>\n<p>When you hit up Bootchog\u2019s Grill, you\u2019ll get an authentic taste of a-a-p-i cuisine.<\/p>\n<p>Alyanna: \u201cWe sell Filipino barbecue, such as barbecue skewers, lemongrass chicken, and we also have our signature Filipino pork belly called liempo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be chillin\u2019 inside a Smorgasburg, while they\u2019re grillin\u2019 all that good stuff. They\u2019ve also got a couple of new dishes that are guaranteed to make mango lovers dance with joy.<\/p>\n<p>Alyanna: \u201cWe came up with the mango sago, which is a dessert with mini tapioca pearls topped with mangoes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mango adobo (uh-doe-bo) Chicken wings are a new take on an old favorite.<\/p>\n<p>Alyanna: \u201cAdobo chicken is a signature dish from our country. It\u2019s a household dish, but we put a little mango twist to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At Yen\u2019s Kitchen, Vietnamese street food is getting mango-ized for the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>Manh: \u201cWe actually brought a variety of Vietnamese-style grilled skewers, all marinated in mango puree sauce. It\u2019s also gonna be dipped in our brand-new homemade mango dipping sauce as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t hard to get behind this year\u2019s fruit-filled theme.<\/p>\n<p>Manh: \u201cEverybody loves mango, right? It\u2019s sweet, and it has a nice texture.
