BELLE GLADE, Fla. \u2014 When he was killed at 18 in Miami Beach, Dan\u2019Vonte Nicolas Tarver\u2019s family remembered<\/a> his work for the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida<\/a> in Belle Glade. He had already had a son named after him. <\/p>\n

Three years later, Tarver\u2019s murder during a shooting on March 19, 2023<\/a>, in South Beach, resurfaced in a 92-page affidavit about a gang in western Palm Beach County\u2019s Belle Glade, an agricultural town. <\/p>\n

On June 29, 2024, Danny Tarver shared \u201cPaint the City Red<\/a>,\u201d a rap song about grief on YouTube that included a picture of a vigil in honor of Dan\u2019Vonte Tarver, according to the Palm Beach Sheriff\u2019s Office deputy\u2019s affidavit. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe majority of the subjects in the pictures are wearing black and red clothing, along with masks and face coverings,\u201d a PBSO deputy wrote, according to the affidavit. \u201cSeveral of the subjects are displaying the Nawf Way gang\u2019s hand sign.\u201d <\/p>\n

During a news conference on Thursday, PBSO Capt. Michael Ott said the Four Way crew had started in 2020 in the area of Northwest 11th Street, and in a few years, it had grown into the Nawf Way gang. <\/p>\n

The PBSO deputies\u2019 affidavit also included the murder of 15-year-old Xavier Hatcher during a shooting on Oct. 21, 2023<\/a>, near Glade View Elementary School<\/a> in Belle Glade. The South Beach murder was solved, a felon<\/a> was arrested, and he was awaiting trial without bond. Xavier\u2019s murder remained unsolved. <\/p>\n

The affidavit mentioned the gang\u2019s rivalry in the Belle Glade area included the Skutta Green Team, Only the Zoe\u2019s, Family Over Bulls–t, and the 1700.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are other gangs in our western community, but this one was significant,\u201d Ott said about the aim to arrest Nawf Way gang\u2019s members. <\/p>\n

During the news conference, Ott stood near a poster that included a picture of Danny Tarver, now 21, whose Instagram post taunting rivals and a \u201cBad Mood\u201d rap song<\/a> on YouTube also made it as evidence in the affidavit. <\/p>\n

The poster also included 16 other pictures of Black men between the ages of 18 and 26, and listed two boys, ages 16 and 17. Sheriff Rick Bradshaw identified all 19 suspects arrested as \u201cbad guys.\u201d <\/p>\n

Ott said deputies also arrested a 20th suspect, but he wasn\u2019t included in the poster, because it was after PBSO staff had printed it for the news conference. <\/p>\n

Ott, of the PBSO\u2019s violent crimes division, said the gang was linked to drug trafficking, over 100 firearms, more than 60 shootings, homicides, burglaries, and robberies.<\/p>\n

Several PBSO units worked with the FBI and the Henry County Sheriff\u2019s Office, as they arrested gang members, also known in local streets as \u201cThe Sharks,\u201d according to Ott. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been a one-year enforcement initiative aimed at dismantling this gang\u2019s enterprise,\u201d Ott said about PBSO\u2019s \u201cOperation Shark Bait.\u201d <\/p>\n

Ott said law enforcement teams had executed 13 search warrants, including 10 on May 21 in Lake Park, Riviera Beach, and LaBelle. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe recovered seven additional firearms,\u201d Ott said, and he added, deputies also seized \u201capproximately $10,000 in currency, large amounts of trafficking weight narcotics, to include fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.\u201d <\/p>\n

Ott estimated the Nawf Way gang has about 50 members. Bradshaw said he had a message for the \u201cbad guys\u201d who haven\u2019t been arrested. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not a matter of if, we\u2019re going to get you! It\u2019s a matter of when because we have a room reserved for you right back here at my hotel,\u201d Bradshaw said.<\/p>\n

The poster listed Danny Tarver, also known as \u201cDT,\u201d and 12 other suspects who faced charges of racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering. <\/p>\n

According to inmate records, Tarver was booked on May 21, and he remained at the county\u2019s Main Detention Center on Friday night. His bond was $2 million. <\/p>\n
