This guy was in Miami when he spotted a hypercar<\/a> that looked like it came out of a Gran Turismo or Forza Horizon video game.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s real.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not a fake car, and it\u2019s not a kit car.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just very, very, very \u2013 we could add a few more \u2018verys\u2019 \u2013 rare.<\/p>\n

This hypercar in Miami is real, and it is actually electric<\/p>\n

The \u2018r\/Spotted\u2019 subreddit is a treasure trove.<\/p>\n

No matter how rare, unusual, exotic or expensive a car can be \u2013 someone will have always spotted it.<\/p>\n

In this case, a guy in Miami saw something that looks barely real.<\/p>\n

It looks like the sort of thing you get to buy and drive in after winning hundreds of races in Gran Turismo or Forza Horizon.<\/p>\n

Or maybe something with a weird name you can get in GTA.<\/p>\n

Somebody on Reddit<\/a> identified it precisely because they had used it Forza Horizon.<\/p>\n

\u201cTIL that thing is real. I got one in Forza but never thought it was a real car,\u201d the Redditor<\/a> wrote.<\/p>\n

That is partially accurate, though.<\/p>\n

The Batmobile-like hypercar<\/a>, which is electric by the way, does have a weird name, and it is inspired (in part) by video games.<\/p>\n

Only one has been created so far<\/p>\n

Built in Los Angeles, the vehicle you see here is a hypercar built as a tribute to the most extreme and futuristic cars from Le Mans, which often end up being used as inspiration for game cars.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s called the RAESR Tachyon Speed<\/p>\n

Speed is speed, but the other two names require an explanation.<\/p>\n

\"This<\/a>RAESR<\/p>\n

RAESR is an acronym, and it stands for Rice Advanced Engineering Systems and Research. The word \u2018Rice\u2019 is actually just the founder\u2019s last name, Eric Rice.<\/p>\n

The name Tachyon is apparently a tribute to a particle that can, in theory, travel faster than light.<\/p>\n

In physics, that\u2019s called a hypothetical particle because physicists argue that faster-than-light travel simply cannot exist.<\/p>\n

\"This<\/a>RAESR<\/p>\n

Well, as far as car names go, this is actually pretty cool.<\/p>\n

The Tachyon uses electric motors that can generate up to 1,250 horsepower and 3,650 lb-ft of torque.<\/p>\n

The top speed is 390 km\/h \u2013 240 mph.<\/p>\n

Which makes this faster than both the Ferrari LaFerrari<\/a> and the Porsche 918 Spyder<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The range is limited to 150 miles, but, with all that power, it\u2019s not difficult to understand why.<\/p>\n

Pricing? The estimated price tag when they opened the order books was indeed around $750,000.<\/p>\n
