(CBS12) \u2014 A woman who was beaten, stabbed, and left partially blind during a downtown Miami attack is now sharing her story and demanding answers.<\/p>\n<p>Caitlin Dydzuhn told <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/woman-describes-terrifying-beating-and-stabbing-in-downtown-miami-that-left-her-partially-blind\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">WSVN<\/a> her nightmare began on the morning of May 19 while walking her dog near her Marina Blue high-rise apartment at Northeast 8th Street and Biscayne Boulevard when she was suddenly attacked. According to police, a homeless man, later identified as 49-year-old Raydean Johnson, assaulted Dydzuhn, repeatedly beating, stabbing and slashing her during the encounter.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with WSVN, Dydzuhn recounted the attack: <\/p>\n<p>The most terrifying feeling [is] to feel helpless and to be screaming on the ground and no one&#8217;s coming to help you, not my building security.<\/p>\n<p>Although she has since been released from the hospital and is recovering, Dydzuhn suffered severe injuries to her face and now has partial blindness in one eye.<\/p>\n<p>See also: <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/news\/local\/should-pbso-deputy-be-disciplined-in-controversial-incident\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Should PBSO deputy be disciplined in controversial incident? Agency review under way<\/a><\/p>\n<p>She credited a good Samaritan who intervened during the attack and fought off her assailant, potentially preventing even more serious injuries. <\/p>\n<p>Authorities said Johnson was taken into custody following a three-hour standoff and later admitted to carrying out the attack. Johnson appeared before a judge the following day and is facing one count of attempted felony murder.<\/p>\n<p>The violent assault sparked concerns about security measures at the condominium where Dydzuhn lives.<\/p>\n<p>Trial attorney Judd Rosen said he believes security personnel should have been actively monitoring the areas surrounding the property and may have missed warning signs before the attack occurred.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The cameras are blocked by bushes and shrubbery,&#8221; Rosen said.<\/p>\n<p>Rosen argued that Johnson&#8217;s criminal history, which includes several assault and battery charges, should have raised concerns if proper security measures had been in place.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The building has an obligation to protect and warn against known threats,&#8221; Rosen said.<\/p>\n<p>As of Friday afternoon, the property&#8217;s management company had not responded to requests for comment regarding the attack or concerns about security coverage around the building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"MIAMI, Fla.
