{"id":290869,"date":"2026-05-31T14:14:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-31T14:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/290869\/"},"modified":"2026-05-31T14:14:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-31T14:14:17","slug":"hillsborough-county-sheriffs-office-deputy-arrested-for-dui-agency-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/290869\/","title":{"rendered":"Hillsborough County Sheriff&#8217;s Office deputy arrested for DUI, agency says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The deputy is currently on administrative leave without pay from the sheriff&#8217;s office as an investigation continues.<\/p>\n<p>CITRUS PARK, Fla. \u2014 A Hillsborough County Sheriff&#8217;s Office deputy is facing charges for driving under the influence.<\/p>\n<p>HCSO says 32-year-old Richard Michael Garcia was pulled over by other deputies just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of Gunn Highway and Normandie Road in Citrus Park.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say Garcia refused to participate in standardized field sobriety exercises or give a breath sample.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Garcia was arrested and charged with DUI and refusal to submit to testing. He is currently on administrative leave without pay from the sheriff&#8217;s office as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia joined HCSO in November 2020 and is assigned to the District I Street Crimes Unit.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The deputy is currently on administrative leave without pay from the sheriff&#8217;s office as an investigation continues.
