UPDATE 11:28 AM: According to a report from FHP, the JTA bus was traveling southbound on I-95 around 4:30 a.m. when a pedestrian was walking eastbound across I-95. <\/p>\n
The pedestrian was hit after walking into the path of the bus. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
According to the report, the pedestrian was an 18-year-old male from Jacksonville.<\/p>\n
The right lane on I-95 South near University Boulevard is closed due to a deadly crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority says that a JTA bus was involved in the crash.<\/p>\n

Earlier this morning at approximately 4:32 a.m., a Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) bus traveling southbound on Interstate 95 near University Boulevard was involved in an incident with a pedestrian that resulted in a fatality.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the time of the incident, the bus was not in passenger service and no customers were onboard. The bus operator was not injured.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe JTA extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the individual involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Florida Highway Patrol and the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office are conducting an active investigation into the incident. The JTA is fully cooperating with both agencies and will continue to assist as needed throughout the investigative process.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause this is an ongoing investigation, no additional information is available at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n
