(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.walb.com\/2026\/05\/31\/update-18-year-old-gavin-yates-lyons-passes-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.walb.com\/2026\/05\/31\/update-18-year-old-gavin-yates-lyons-passes-away\/\">WALB<\/a>\/Gray News) \u2014 A recent high school graduate in Georgia has died from his injuries sustained in a shooting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Gavin Yates-Lyons, 18, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition last Sunday after police said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walb.com\/2026\/05\/24\/tpd-multiple-people-shot-during-large-gathering-tallahassee-parking-garage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.walb.com\/2026\/05\/24\/tpd-multiple-people-shot-during-large-gathering-tallahassee-parking-garage\/\">gunfire erupted<\/a> at a large gathering \u201cpop-up party\u201d in Tallahassee, Florida. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This Sunday, loved ones said Yates-Lyons died. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cTragically, the morning after his graduation, Gavin was caught in the crossfire of a shooting and suffered critical injuries,\u201d Sebrina Franklin shared in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/supporting-gavins-family-bayn8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/supporting-gavins-family-bayn8\">GoFundMe<\/a> made for the family. \u201cDespite the efforts of medical professionals and the countless prayers offered on his behalf, Gavin unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The 18-year-old had just graduated from Lowndes High School last Saturday. He was also a member of the Lowndes High football team, which also confirmed this death. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Yates-Lyons had signed to go to Ball State in the fall to play collegiate football.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhile our hearts are broken by this tremendous loss, we find comfort in knowing that Gavin is now resting with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven,\u201d Franklin said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The family has thanked all of those who have supported them during this difficult time, the GoFundMe stated. While saying Yates-Lyons won\u2019t be forgotten.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officials said two other people were also shot at last weekend\u2019s party. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Tallahassee Police Department hasn\u2019t announced any immediate arrests as its investigation continues. <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WALB via Gray Local Media, Inc.
