The Florida Hospital Association (FHA<\/a>) \u00a0is commending state legislators for allocating $49 billion earmarked for healthcare services across the state.<\/p>\n

The FHA is giving thumbs up to state lawmakers who included the billions of dollars in the 2026-2027 fiscal budget.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The organization says the funding will help strengthen the healthcare workforce across the state. The allocations will also help build up healthcare access in rural areas and\u00a0 bolster medical care for vulnerable families.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlorida\u2019s healthcare system is evolving. To\u00a0continue providing outstanding care\u00a0as the demand for services grows,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0vital that we invest in our\u00a0state\u2019s\u00a0healthcare workforce, rural\u00a0and maternal\u00a0health\u00a0initiatives\u00a0and\u00a0safety-net\u00a0services,\u201d\u00a0said Mary C. Mayhew, President and CEO of FHA.<\/p>\n

FHA officials say there\u2019s a long list of benefits to the state funding for healthcare including:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u2014 Continuing budget authority for the Rural Health Transformation Program<\/a>, a federally funded program designed to bolster the healthcare workforce, implement modern technologies and establish rural care partnerships.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Adding $1.7 billion in funds to support projections for Florida\u2019s Medicaid<\/a> and KidCare<\/a> programs.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Funding $38.4 million for the expansion of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE<\/a>)\u00a0to\u00a0support healthier aging.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Creating $15\u00a0million in\u00a0additional\u00a0funding\u00a0to\u00a0implement\u00a0a tiered reimbursement model for Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program services.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Adding $12\u00a0million\u00a0in funding for\u00a0Graduate Medical Education\u00a0to support\u00a0the state\u2019s physician and healthcare provider pipeline.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Providing $10\u00a0million\u00a0in\u00a0additional\u00a0funding for the Cancer Innovation Program to\u00a0research\u00a0life-saving\u00a0innovations.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Adding $5 million in\u00a0funding to support research\u00a0on\u00a0Neurofibromatosis\u00a0Disease.<\/p>\n

\u2014 An additional $700,000 in\u00a0funding\u00a0to\u00a0establish\u00a0a\u00a0Doula Support\u00a0for\u00a0Healthy Births\u00a0Pilot\u00a0Program<\/a>, targeting pregnant and postpartum\u00a0women who\u00a0have\u00a0overcome\u00a0or\u00a0are\u00a0overcoming substance use\u00a0disorders.<\/p>\n
