(WRTV) \u2014 A Ball State Football player died Saturday after being shot at a parking garage in Tallahassee last week.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/48930784\/ball-state-gavin-yates-lyons-18-dies-being-shot\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ESPN, 18-year-old Gavin Y<\/a><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/48930784\/ball-state-gavin-yates-lyons-18-dies-being-shot\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ates-Lyons<\/a>, a freshman defensive back on the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/2050\/ball-state-cardinals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ball State<\/a> football team, was among three victims of a shooting at a parking garage last Sunday in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN says he was caught in the crossfire and taken to a hospital in critical condition. Ball State <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BallStateFB\/status\/2061080017434464437\" rel=\"nofollow\">confirmed in an X post that he died on Saturday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/.png\" alt=\"Screenshot 2026-05-31 150453.png\"  width=\"643\" height=\"814\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Ball State Football via X<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe extend sincere condolences to his family, friends, coaches, teammates and all who held him close. May you find comfort and strength during this challenging moment,\u201d Ball State said in the post.<\/p>\n<p>He had finished his education at Lowndes County High School in Georgia early and enrolled at Ball State in January.<\/p>\n<p>An ESPN source said he returned to attend his graduation ceremony, which took place the day before he was shot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"TALLAHASSEE, Fla.
