In her bid for re-election, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis is now touting a million dollars raised and support from the county\u2019s top cop.<\/p>\n
And she still has no opponent in sight.<\/p>\n
Milian Orbis, the Republican incumbent in Commission District 6<\/a>, announced this week that her campaign has surpassed the $1 million mark in fundraising.<\/p>\n She has also landed an endorsement from Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, according to her campaign, which qualified for this year\u2019s election by petition<\/a> in late September.<\/p>\n \u201cThousands of residents personally chose to put my name on the ballot, and that means something,\u201d Milian Orbis said.<\/p>\n \u201cThis campaign is not being carried by insiders or political games. It is being powered by people who want strong leadership, common sense, and results.\u201d<\/p>\n The Sheriff\u2019s endorsement, along with support from law enforcement officers, firefighters and first responders, carried added weight, Milian Orbis said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe endorsement of Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, our law enforcement officers, our firefighters, and our first responders means a tremendous amount to me because it shows that I have earned their trust and they know I have their back.\u201d<\/p>\n Milian Orbis\u2019 fundraising haul, taken in through her campaign account<\/a> and political committee, Dade Families First PC<\/a>, included roughly $242,000 in gains since March 31<\/a>, the last day from which official campaign finance reports are available.<\/p>\n Reports for the April 1 to May 31 period are due June 10.<\/p>\n
