MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 The Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office announced the arrest of a high school teacher who is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.<\/p>\n
Detectives arrested Michael Enriquez, 53, who worked as a teacher at American Senior High School located at 18350 NW 67 Ave., on Monday. <\/p>\n
According to police, Enriquez was involved in a sexual relationship with one of his students that began in May of 2025. <\/p>\n
Deputies said Enriquez and the student, who was 17 at the time, went out after school twice, once in May and once in June, where they drove to a shopping plaza in his truck and performed sex acts on one another. <\/p>\n
When the new school year began in August of 2025, the two resumed their sexual relationship, deputies said. <\/p>\n
Their final encounter occurred on May 14, which deputies said was the only time they had sexual intercourse.<\/p>\n
The victim was 18 at the time of their final sexual encounter, according to official documents. <\/p>\n
Authorities did not say how they were alerted to the relationship or how they discovered the dates and details. <\/p>\n
As of Monday evening, Enriquez was behind bars to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of unlawful sex act with a specified minor as an authority figure, lewd and lascivious touching of a minor and offenses against a student by an authority figure, with bond listed as \u201cto be set.\u201d<\/p>\n
Detectives said they believe there could be additional victims and urge anyone with information to call the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office Special Victims Bureau at 305-715-3300 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. <\/p>\n
