Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\nDeputies took Victor Boyd, 43, of Deerfield Beach, into custody early Saturday morning after the shooting, which occurred at the Citgo at 598 NW 15th St. in Pompano Beach. <\/p>\n
According to the Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office, deputies responded to the scene around 1:21 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.<\/p>\n
First responders said they arrived to find the victim, a 45-year-old man, suffering from gunshot wounds to the ear and the shoulder. <\/p>\n
While being treated by rescue crews at the scene, deputies asked the victim who shot him, to which he replied, \u201cIt was Vic. He lives off (Sixth) and 15th,\u201d while adding that he was driving an orange Buick, according to an arrest form. <\/p>\n
Moments later, deputies said a witness at the scene told them, \u201cthat it was Vic in the orange Buick,\u201d while adding that the suspect frequented the area to sell drugs. <\/p>\n
Surveillance footage from the gas station showed the victim and several other people gathered around the gas pumps, which is when deputies said the suspect pulled a handgun from his pocket and fired two shots at the victim before calmly walking away, deputies said. <\/p>\n
After relaying the suspect information across BSO\u2019s radio channels, another deputy advised that he was familiar with the suspect and that he had seen Boyd, whom the deputy described as \u201cwell-known\u201d to him, at the gas station a little less than 20 minutes before the shooting occurred. <\/p>\n
A helicopter unit was dispatched and located the orange Buick soon after, and deputies said the unit captured video footage of Boyd getting out of the car and throwing an object believed to be a gun into a nearby canal in the area of the 7000 block of Northwest First Street in Margate.<\/p>\n
According to BSO, it took less than 20 minutes after the initial dispatch call for deputies to take Boyd into custody. <\/p>\n
Deputies also noted in an official arrest form that Boyd was wearing the same clothes seen by the person who opened fire in the surveillance footage from the gas station. <\/p>\n
Boyd is now facing charges of premeditated attempted murder and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon. <\/p>\n
State records<\/a> show Boyd has multiple convictions for selling and possessing drugs.<\/p>\nAs of Monday afternoon, he was being held at the Broward Main Jail on no bond. <\/p>\n
