FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 JetBlue recently announced plans to offer direct flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar International Airport in Maiquet\u00eda, Venezuela.<\/p>\n

The low-cost airline announced<\/a> plans to begin the FLL to CCS service on the 150-passenger Airbus A320<\/a> aircraft \u201cbefore the end of the year,\u201d and for tickets to go on sale \u201cin the coming months.\u201d <\/p>\n

Government approval was pending. <\/p>\n

\u201cSouth Florida is home to a large Venezuelan community, and this new route would help connect families and loved ones with JetBlue\u2019s competitive fares and award-winning service,\u201d Dave Jehn, the airline\u2019s vice president of network planning and airline partnerships, said in a statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n

JetBlue plans to include unlimited in-flight Wi-Fi service, seatback entertainment, and complimentary snacks and drinks during the flights. This would be JetBlue\u2019s first venture in Venezuela. <\/p>\n

After regular flights since 1987, American Airlines suspended the service in 2019 due to security concerns. AA started flights between Miami International Airport and Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar International Airport on April 30, and added a second on May 21. <\/p>\n
