Another elected official in Fort Lauderdale is getting behind Democrat Michael Ferguson as he runs to flip Broward\u2019s only Republican-held legislative seat.<\/p>\n

Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Steve Glassman is endorsing Ferguson in his campaign for House District 100, citing the Air Force veteran and lawyer\u2019s background in public service and accountability.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichael Ferguson brings a strong sense of service, professionalism, and accountability to this race,\u201d Glassman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis background as a veteran and prosecutor reflects a proven commitment to protecting and serving others, and I believe he\u2019ll bring that same dedication to Tallahassee while fighting to lower costs and improve quality of life. I\u2019m proud to endorse Michael for the Florida House because Broward deserves leadership that delivers solutions for our residents and families.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glassman joins<\/a> fellow Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Ben Sorensen among Ferguson\u2019s backers. Others supporting Ferguson include Sens. Shevrin Jones and Tina Polsky, Reps. Emily Gregory and Mitch Rosenwald, Broward State Attorney Harold Pryor, Broward Property Appraiser Marty Kiar, Broward School Board Chair Sarah Leonardi, Deerfield Beach City Commissioner Ben Preston \u2014 Ferguson\u2019s former Cardinal Gibbons High School coach \u2014 and VoteVets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ferguson said he is \u201chonored\u201d to have Glassman\u2019s support.<\/p>\n

\u201cSteve has spent years serving the people of Fort Lauderdale with integrity and compassion,\u201d Ferguson said. \u201cI\u2019m grateful for his confidence in our campaign and our vision for Broward\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Lauderdale-by-the-Sea resident, Ferguson has served as both a prosecutor and defense lawyer in serious criminal cases and was selected as one of the youngest Special Trial Counsel in Air Force history.<\/p>\n

Today, he works at Krupnick Campbell P.A.<\/a> and has been recognized as one of the National Trial Lawyers\u2019 \u201cTop 40 Under 40\u201d in Florida.<\/p>\n

He is the only Democrat running for HD 100<\/a>, a coastal Broward district stretching from Fort Lauderdale to Deerfield Beach.<\/p>\n

Republicans in the race include Yoni Anijar, Raul Gallon, Eric Stelnicki\u00a0and Christopher Vincent.<\/p>\n

The seat is open; Republican incumbent Chip LaMarca must leave office this year due to term limits.<\/p>\n
