\n\t\t\t\t\t\tA woman who spent 13 days behind bars, charged with multiple felony counts of causing and leaving the scene of a multi-vehicle crash involving three deaths, is planning to sue the Florida Highway Patrol claiming a \u201cbotched\u201d investigation. \u201cGod got me through the hardest parts. I had my Bible in my hands 24 hours a day in there and I prayed and I prayed that the truth would come out,\u201d Lindsey Brooke Isaacs told WESH 2 News during a one-on-one interview Tuesday afternoon at her attorney\u2019s office in Daytona Beach. Isaacs might still be locked up if not for the detective work of her attorney to pick apart the FHP\u2019s case and redirect troopers to another driver who has now been arrested and charged. It started last Oct. 4, when witnesses say an SUV caused a chain reaction crash on I-4 near DeBary and drove off. But left behind was a chaotic mess that ended the lives of Flagler Beach Deputy Administrator Jorge Salinas and his wife, Nancy, as well as motorcyclist Joaquin Deno. A woman in another vehicle, Mariliz Barrios-Barrios, was severely injured. Early the next morning, officers went to Isaacs’s home. \u201cThe cops came banging on my door at 4:30 in the morning and told me that my vehicle was involved in a triple vehicular homicide,\u201d she said. Troopers arrested Isaacs April 17 based on the evidence they had, including witness statements that there was at least one Dodge Durango involved. Turns out, there were three Durangos in the area. \u201cThe highway patrol botched this case, bad,\u201d said attorney Patrick McGeehan. McGeehan said it was easy to prove Isaacs wasn’t the driver of the vehicle that caused the crash. He sued FHP to obtain custody of her vehicle, which he video-recorded showing that it had no damage consistent with the multiple collisions in the crash. The office of 7th Circuit State Attorney R.J. Larizza dropped the charge against Isaacs. McGeehan told WESH 2 News, \u201cI’ve reinvestigated cases like this for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office. A lot of those are FHP cases. This is the worst one I have ever seen. But am I shocked? Absolutely not.\u201d Investigators then arrested Alisa Lee Montalvo, who has previously been convicted of driving under the influence in 2010. She\u2019s set to be arraigned June 25. Now, McGeehan is preparing a lawsuit against FHP. Isaacs added, \u201cAnd it was an eight-month-long wicked nightmare dream.\u201d WESH 2 News reached out to FHP for comment.
