LUCIE, Fla. (WFLA) \u2014 A woman was arrested on Sunday after she set fire to a bedroom door while her 62-year-old mother was inside of the room, according to authorities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Body camera footage shows officers responding to reports of a house fire and domestic disturbance around 9:05 p.m. on Airoso Boulevard. PSLPD said the victim attempted to put the fire out, but \u201cPicard allegedly attacked her,\u201d attempting to push her toward the flames.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The victim then ran to the bath tub and called 911.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link  yahoo-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/us\/articles\/body-cam-video-shows-driver-215258392.html\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:Body cam video shows driver handcuffed after deadly Florida beach toll booth crash: deputies;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;Body cam video shows driver handcuffed after deadly Florida beach toll booth crash&quot;}\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Body cam video shows driver handcuffed after deadly Florida beach toll booth crash: deputies <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Michelle Picard was arrested and charged with attempted murder, arson and resisting arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Chief Leo Niemzcyzk said Picard was \u201chearing voices that prompted her to commit this act of violence.\u201d He said \u201canimals were talking to her as well as voices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">PSLPD said three of its officers received medical care, including two for smoke inhalation and one for a leg injury \u201cdue to the suspect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe are grateful the victim survived, proud of the courage displayed by our officers and firefighters and wish our injured officers a speedy recovery,\u201d PSLPD said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
