Less than two months in, the only Democrat running to flip Broward\u2019s sole Republican-held legislative seat has cleared a six-figure fundraising milestone.<\/p>\n

Michael Ferguson, an Air Force veteran and lawyer running for House District 100<\/a>, announced this week that his campaign has raised more than $100,000 from 115 individual donors since launching<\/a> April 7, with contributions averaging under $250.<\/p>\n

The campaign says it also knocked on more than 4,000 doors across the coastal Broward district, which stretches from Fort Lauderdale to Deerfield Beach.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m incredibly grateful to every person who has contributed, volunteered, opened their door, and put their trust in this campaign,\u201d Ferguson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the last two months, we\u2019ve knocked on more than 4,000 doors, and the message we\u2019re hearing is clear: people are frustrated by rising costs and a government that too often seems disconnected from the challenges families are facing. Voters are looking for leaders who will listen, show up, and focus on solving problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

The HD 100 seat is open; incumbent Republican Rep. Chip LaMarca must leave office in November due to term limits. Republicans Yoni Anijar, Raul Gallon, Eric Stelnicki and Christopher Vincent are also running.<\/p>\n

Ferguson\u2019s fundraising announcement follows endorsements<\/a> of his campaign from Sens. Shevrin Jones and Tina Scott Polsky, Reps. Emily Gregory and Mitch Rosenwald, Broward State Attorney Harold Pryor, Broward Property Appraiser Marty Kiar, Broward School Board Chair Sarah Leonardi, Fort Lauderdale Commissioners Steve Glassman and Ben Sorensen, Deerfield Beach Commissioner Ben Preston and VoteVets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A Lauderdale-by-the-Sea resident, Ferguson has served as both a prosecutor and defense lawyer in serious criminal cases and was selected as one of the youngest Special Trial Counsel in Air Force history.<\/p>\n

Today, he works at\u00a0Krupnick Campbell P.A.<\/a>\u00a0and has been recognized as one of the National Trial Lawyers\u2019 \u201cTop 40 Under 40\u201d in Florida.<\/p>\n

The Primary is Aug. 18, followed by the General Election on Nov. 3.<\/p>\n
