\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWESH TWO NEWS STARTS NOW WITH BREAKING NEWS. THAT BREAKING NEWS IS IN ORANGE COUNTY, WHERE DEPUTIES SHOT AND KILLED A WOMAN ARMED WITH A KNIFE. THIS HAPPENED AROUND 1:00 THIS AFTERNOON AT A HOME ON TIVOLI DRIVE NEAR SAND LAKE ROAD AND APOPKA-VINELAND ROAD. WESH 2\u2019S GAIL PASCHALL-BROWN LIV FROM THE ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF\u2019S OFFICE. RIGHT NOW, WITH WHAT WE JUST LEARNED FROM THE SHERIFF GAIL. ABSOLUTELY. THE SHERIFF JUST EXPLAINED THAT THREE OF HIS ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF\u2019S DEPUTIES ARE ON PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE AFTER SHOOTING AND KILLING A WOMAN IN THE DOCTOR PHILLIPS AREA THIS AFTERNOON. WHAT ELSE WE CAN TELL YOU, ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF JOHN MINA SAID. THE DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO THE 8200 BLOCK OF TIVOLI DRIVE AROUND 1 P.M. A 911 CALL CAME IN AS A WOMAN SCREAMING AND SOME OTHER LANGUAGE IN THE STREET. NOW, WHEN DEPUTIES ARRIVED, THE WOMAN WAS IN HER HOUSE. DEPUTIES KNOCKED ON THE DOOR AND THE SHERIFF SAID THE WOMAN CAME OUT WITH A LARGE KNIFE. THIS LARGE KNIFE. DEPUTIES RETREATED AND THEN ISSUED SEVERAL COMMANDS TO DROP THE KNIFE, AND THE WOMAN REFUSED. THE SHERIFF SAYS SHE TOLD DEPUTIES, I WILL KILL YOU. SHE CAME AT THE DEPUTIES HOLDING THE KNIFE UP HERE, KEPT ADVANCING TOWARDS THE DEPUTIES. THE DEPUTIES RETREATED ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE STREET. SHE STILL HAD THE KNIFE IN HER HAND. SHE SAID NO. WHEN THEY WHEN THEY ASKED HER TO DROP THE KNIFE AND SHE SAID, I\u2019LL KILL YOU. CONTINUE TO ADVANCE TOWARDS DEPUTIES. AND THAT\u2019S WHEN SHE WAS SHOT. THEN, OF COURSE, THE DEPUTIES IMMEDIATELY RENDERED AID. THE WOMAN WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE SHE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD. THE SHERIFF SAYS THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER CALLS RELATING TO THIS CASE, BUT IN OTHER JURISDICTIONS REGARDING THE WOMAN\u2019S MENTAL HEALTH, APPARENTLY SHE\u2019S BEEN BAKER ACTED IN OTHER JURISDICTIONS. RIGHT NOW, THEY\u2019RE NOT RELEASING THE NAME OF THE WOMAN BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT CONTACTED NEXT OF KIN. WE WILL CERTAINLY GET YOU THAT INFORMATION ONCE WE DO HAVE MORE INFORMATION. AND AS PROTOCOL, THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT IS INVESTIGATING THIS. THE SHERIFF ALSO SAYS THAT THE DEPARTMENT WILL BE DOING ITS OWN INTERNAL INVESTIGATION OF THIS DEADLY\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tOrange County Sheriff John Mina said Wednesday afternoon that a woman holding a knife was shot and killed by three deputies earlier that day. Deputies responded around 1 p.m. to the 8200 block of Tivoli Drive, where a neighbor had called 911 to report that a woman was in the street screaming, Mina said during a news conference. “When our deputies arrived, the woman was in her house. Our deputies knocked on the door and the woman came out of the house holding a large knife,” Mina said, gesturing with a fist above his head to imitate the woman’s alleged stance. “As our deputies retreated towards the street, they gave several commands to drop the knife. The woman refused to drop the knife and shouted, ‘I’ll kill you,’ towards the deputies.” The woman continued to advance toward the deputies and three deputies then fired their service weapons, striking the woman, the sheriff said. The deputies provided first aid to the woman until paramedics arrived, at which point she was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to Mina. “I have seen the body-worn camera footage, so we will release that within 30 days. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate this case, they will turn their findings over to the state attorney’s office.
