CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK)\u2014 A delivery driver is being recognized as a hero after rescuing a resident from a house fire in Cape Coral.<\/p>\n
Cape Coral firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 2200 block of SW 12th Place just after 6 p.m., according to a Cape Coral Fire Department Facebook post. When crews arrived, they found the resident safely outside the home thanks to the quick actions of Adam Cannon.<\/p>\n
Adam was making a delivery a few houses away when he noticed smoke and heard someone calling for help. Without hesitation, he rushed to the home and assisted the resident in getting out safely.<\/p>\n
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Despite their resuscitation efforts, a dog and a cat inside the home did not survive.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
In recognition of his selfless actions, Cannon was presented with a Community Recognition Coin. His willingness to step in and help a stranger in need likely prevented a much more tragic outcome, the Cape Coral Fire Department said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"CAPE CORAL, Fla.
