(WPEC) \u2014 South Florida remains vulnerable to additional flooding today as slow-moving showers and thunderstorms continue to develop over areas that have already received significant rainfall.<\/p>\n<p>A stalled front lingering near the Florida Keys continues to focus moisture across portions of the region, particularly along the east coast metro areas. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to redevelop through the day, and any storm that remains over the same location for an extended period could quickly produce additional flooding, especially in neighborhoods where soils are already saturated from recent heavy rain.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The front is pushing out a significant amount of moisture that has been influencing the rain pattern across South Florida. (WPEC)<\/p>\n<p>The greatest concern remains across the southern half of the area where several inches of rain have already fallen this week. While rainfall coverage may not be as widespread as earlier this week, any heavier downpour could still create localized street flooding and ponding of water.<\/p>\n<p>Hazardous marine and beach conditions will also continue today as persistent onshore winds and rough surf affect Atlantic waters and beaches.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Small craft and rip current advisories are in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday evening. (WPEC)<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures will stay cooler than normal for early June, with highs generally in the low to mid-80s along the east coast.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Temperatures remain below normal as cloud cover and a front contribute to a slightly cooler trend. (WPEC)<\/p>\n<p>Conditions begin improving on Friday as drier air gradually pushes southward and the stalled front retreats farther away from the region. Rain chances will decrease substantially, with most of South Florida seeing a return to more typical early summer weather. Saturday currently appears to be the driest day of the upcoming weekend, with more sunshine and temperatures warming back into the upper 80s and lower 90s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.
