As the World Cup<\/a> kicks into high gear,\u00a0Brazilian\u00a0soccer\u00a0legend and official tournament ambassador\u00a0Roberto Carlos da Silva Rocha\u00a0<\/a>\u2014 best known simply as Roberto Carlos \u2014 has scored a different kind of goal.<\/p>\n

Gimme Shelter can reveal that Carlos has just signed a contract to buy two condos at the Viceroy Residences Fort Lauderdale.\u00a0The Real Madrid icon and legendary defender paid around $5 million for the units.<\/p>\n

\u201cFort\u00a0Lauderdale has always felt like a natural place for me,\u201d\u00a0Carlos\u00a0told Gimme, adding that Viceroy stood out for its \u201cdesign, privacy, lifestyle component and location that feels connected to everything.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Of course, he\u2019s also buzzing about the upcoming World Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for the games,\u201d\u00a0Carlos\u00a0added, \u201cthere is already a lot of excitement and attention around what is coming. South Florida has become an important market for the sport, and you can feel how much the game continues to grow. It is always special to see that kind of energy building before a major tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 52-year-old footballer will be involved in designing his new home, and combining both units.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The first is a 1,350-square-foot two-bedroom, 2.5-bath spread with a 200-square-foot terrace that asked \u201cin the mid-$2 million range.\u201d The second 1,850-square-foot dwelling comes with three bedrooms and three baths and a 250-square-foot terrace, \u201casking in the mid $3 million range,\u201d a spokesperson said, adding that Carlos will be living on one of the building\u2019s higher floors.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Design details include 10-foot-high ceilings \u2014 plus stunning views of the ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Fort Lauderdale skyline. The first closings are slated for 2030.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 45-story, 500-foot tower comes with 251 luxury condos. Details include floor-to-ceiling windows, with interiors by\u00a0Arquitectonica<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Rockwell Group<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Building amenities include a spa, a pool, a lounge area, a wine bar, a karaoke room, a VR simulator room, concierge services, social programming and beach club access.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The tower, developed by Naftali Group, is exclusively represented by Douglas Elliman.
