Police later said he had shrapnel in both eyes and underwent multiple surgeries, including procedures on his eyes and face.<\/p>\n Despite the severity of his injuries, Levasseur\u2019s recovery has been marked by steady progress. He was later reported awake and alert, then moved to rehabilitation after surgeries. In January, he returned home after 37 days in the hospital<\/a>, walking out with his wife by his side as officers and hospital staff gathered around him.<\/p>\n Sgt.
