DORAL, Fla. \u2014 A woman from the Bronx, New York is facing a felony charge in South Florida after police said she stole more than $200,000 in jewelry from a man she was dating after being kicked out of a friend\u2019s house they were staying at in Doral.<\/p>\n
Doral police took Mikaila Lopez, 20, into custody on a first-degree grand theft charge just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, shortly after they said the crime took place.<\/p>\n
Investigators said Lopez and the man had been dating for two months and were staying at a home on Northwest 68th Terrace in The Mansions at Doral, a high-end gated community.<\/p>\n
According to an arrest report, at some point, the man told Lopez to leave multiple times and she refused, leading him to threaten a call to police.<\/p>\n
After that, police said Lopez went upstairs to the man\u2019s room and took a necklace, a tennis bracelet, a white gold pendant and a Richard Mille watch worth about $261,000 total, then left and jumped a fence.<\/p>\n
Doral police said they caught Lopez nearby and an officer saw \u201cthe necklace and pendant hanging from her purse.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the report, the man found the $133,000 watch about 50 feet outside of the home, but the $24,000 tennis bracelet was nowhere to be found.<\/p>\n
Records show Lopez was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $15,000 bond as of Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
