The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says Hansel Pearson, 21, stabbed his roommate and one other person at an off-campus housing building near USF.<\/p>\n

TAMPA, Fla. \u2014 Hillsborough County deputies have identified the University of South Florida (USF) student found dead<\/a> after a double stabbing at an off-campus apartment complex.<\/p>\n

According to the sheriff’s office, Hansel Pearson, 21, stabbed his roommate and one other person around 4:30 a.m. at the Halo 46 Apartments located on North 46th Street in Tampa. Pearson’s roommate is another USF student.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hours later, deputies said Pearson was found dead on East Fletcher Avenue.<\/p>\n

The property owner, BHOM Student Living, released a statement, saying, in part:<\/p>\n

“The situation was isolated to one unit, and there is no known ongoing threat to residents or the surrounding community. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this event.<\/p>\n

The safety and well-being of our residents, guests, and team members remain our highest priority, and we are committed to supporting our community during this time. We are fully cooperating with the Tampa Police Department as they conduct their investigation. Because the investigation remains active, we are unable to provide additional details at this time.<\/p>\n

We appreciate the quick response of first responders and the cooperation of our residents as law enforcement completes its work.”<\/p>\n
