Yung Miami<\/a> recently sat down with former NFL star Cam Newton for his YouTube show Funky Fridays and told a funny story of the time she tried to get Drake<\/a> on a song while he was in the middle of his beef<\/a> with Kendrick Lamar<\/a> and Metro Boomin <\/a>back in 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got a song called \u2018Take Me to Chanel\u2019 and I was trying to get him on the song,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI remember DM\u2019ing him, but that was at the time when he was going through all his sh\u2013. And when people going through they sh\u2013, like, I get it, I understand. \u2026 But I DM\u2019d him like, \u2018Drake, I think you\u2019ll sound good on \u2018Take Me to Chanel.\u2019 He just liked the message like come on, now, don\u2019t do that! Drake, don\u2019t do that now \u2019cause when you called me I was there! But, nah, I f\u2014 with Drake, I understand.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then added that she\u2019s hyped for ICEMAN and Drake\u2019s return to rap\u2019s forefront. \u201cI\u2019m excited. I love Drake, she began before explaining why. \u201cHe\u2019s so special that it\u2019s like his music is like, \u2018You gotta know to know.\u2019 He\u2019ll say some sh\u2013 and it\u2019s like what made him \u2026 he\u2019s clever. And I just love how he does his interludes. He\u2019ll go and get a soundbite and blow it up, and he\u2019s gonna show you love. It just be little things like that. And he just always got one. You can play Drake at a graduation, any function and you\u2019re gonna feel good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yung Miami and her former City Girls<\/a> bandmate JT<\/a> lent their vocals to the Toronto rapper\u2019s 2018 smash hit \u201cIn My Feelings\u201d \u2014 a 10-week No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100<\/a> \u2014 and she also talked about how it helped launch their careers. \u201cThat was the breakthrough for the City Girls,\u201d she said. \u201cI would never forget that phone call that we got like, \u2018Drake wants y\u2019all on his album.\u2019 And it was like April Fool\u2019s Day. This gotta be a joke and it was like, \u2018Nah, y\u2019all gotta come to the studio, we gotta play the record.\u2019 And we press play and it\u2019s like Drake saying our names.\u201d<\/p>\n
