A rare early June cold front pushed through Florida, and it\u2019s temporarily knocked down the humidity across the Suncoast.<\/p>\n
The result? Some of the most comfortable weather we\u2019ve experienced in weeks.<\/p>\n
Wait\u2026 Is This Really Florida?<\/p>\n
Believe it or not, dew points have dropped into the 60s across much of the region.<\/p>\n
For early June, that\u2019s a big deal.<\/p>\n
Usually this time of year, Florida is already settling into its familiar pattern of sticky afternoons, warm nights, and daily thunderstorms. Instead, we\u2019re getting a brief taste of weather that feels more like late spring than the start of summer.<\/p>\n
Morning temperatures have even dipped into the 60s in some inland communities.<\/p>\n
The Atmosphere Hit the Reset Button<\/p>\n
Behind the front, dry air has been spilling southward across the Florida peninsula.<\/p>\n
Meteorologists measure atmospheric moisture using a value called precipitable water, and recent readings have dropped to around 1.3 inches. That\u2019s relatively dry for June standards.<\/p>\n
The atmosphere still has sea breezes, sunshine, and daytime heating, but it\u2019s missing one important ingredient:<\/p>\n
Moisture.<\/p>\n
That means clouds can form, but many struggle to grow into showers and thunderstorms.<\/p>\n

Moisture will gradually begin returning over the weekend, and you\u2019ll probably notice mornings becoming a little more muggy by Sunday.<\/p>\n
The good news is that the atmosphere doesn\u2019t flip back to full summer mode all at once.<\/p>\n
Sunday still looks mostly dry with only a small chance for an isolated afternoon shower.<\/p>\n
When Do Thunderstorms Return?<\/p>\n
The better chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms arrives early next week.<\/p>\n
Monday will likely be the transition day as moisture continues building back into the state.<\/p>\n
By Tuesday and Wednesday, Florida starts looking much more like Florida again.<\/p>\n

The strong easterly winds that followed the front are weakening, and boating conditions should steadily improve through the weekend.<\/p>\n
Even so, mariners should continue checking the latest forecast before heading offshore, especially Friday morning while some elevated seas linger.<\/p>\n

The Atlantic hurricane season officially began June 1, but the tropics remain quiet for now.<\/p>\n
No tropical development is expected over the next seven days.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s not unusual.<\/p>\n
Historically, June tends to be one of the slower months of hurricane season, with activity often beginning in the Gulf of Mexico, western Caribbean, or near Florida later in the month.<\/p>\n
For now, the biggest weather story isn\u2019t in the tropics.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the fact that Florida has temporarily remembered what comfortable feels like.<\/p>\n
