Florida Gators<\/a> head coach Jon Sumrall is turning up the pressure in an elite five-star recruit in a familiar way.<\/p>\n

Recruiting has been massive for the Florida Gators over the past two months. Head coach Jon Sumrall<\/a> has done a fantastic job in fixing the Gators\u2019 biggest issues in high school recruiting, with 19 total commits and the No. 5 overall class per Rivals.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a really impressive display from the Gators since Sumrall took over, as recruits have talked extensively about how the energy has changed in the building. It\u2019s been a major factor in changing the momentum with high school recruiting, and has been huge in getting five-star recruits to campus.<\/p>\n

Florida Gators 2027 Recruiting Class<\/p>\n

In Jon Sumrall\u2019s first season, the Florida Gators have the No. 5 overall recruiting class with 19 commitments.<\/p>\n

Among their commitments, four of their top ones are on the offensive line, including five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller.<\/p>\n

Sumrall is chasing multiple five-star recruits, including two at wide receiver.<\/p>\n

Florida Gators turning up the pressure on five-star wide receiver<\/p>\n

The Gators are in their second week of major visits this summer, and it began on Thursday. One of the top players visiting Gainesville this weekend is five-star wide receiver Eric McFarland. Despite already having three wide receivers committed after a three wide receiver class in the 2026 class, Sumrall isn\u2019t afraid to continue attacking the position.<\/p>\n

They aren\u2019t just putting the pressure on McFarland with the coaching staff, his former 7-on-7 teammates, quarterback Tramell Jones Jr.<\/a> and wide receiver Vernell Brown III<\/a>, area working on getting him to commit.<\/p>\n

The IMG Academy product is currently the 26th overall recruit and the No. 6 wide receiver, and is a fascinating player. At 5-8 and 176 pounds, McFarland is explosive in short spaces and with the ball in his hands after the catch. His skill set is similar to that of Rondale Moore<\/a>, and the Gators could use that in Buster Faulkner\u2019s offense.<\/p>\n

They currently have an uphill battle to land McFarland, with the Texas A&M Aggies the overwhelming favorites to land McFarland at over 89%. There is an interesting element to his visit, as McFarland moved it up.
